Tour OVERVIEW
We have been overwhelmed by the interest in this ride! Departure dates now set for, April 2026 / 2027
Both departure dates are inclusive of Bike Tour Asia support vehicle and tour guide on own motorcycle.
Bike Tour Asia being the Official Partner of BMW Motorrad we start our ride in Rayong, 150 KM east of Bangkok at the BMW factory and ride to the BMW Motorrad Motorrad days in Garmisch - Partenkirchen / Germany. The plan is to arrive in Garmisch - Partenkirchen the day before opening the BMW Motorrad Days. Bike Tour Asia will have an exhibition stand at the BMW Motorrad Days. It would be great if you as a participant on the ride spend a couple of days at Bike Tour Asia’s stand and share your recent riding adventure with other riders. There will be an opportunity to visit the BMW museum in Munich.
The route, Thailand, Laos, China, Tibet, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan (ferry cross the Caspian Sea), Azerbaijan, Georgia, (ferry cross the Black sea) to Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Austria and Germany.
China / Tibet we need permits, meaning we can’t travel on our own and will therefore be accompanied by our Chinese partner.
In Turkmenistan, we will opt for a tourist visa and permit. This gives us the opportunity to see more of this closed and mystique country.
The “big” adventure part of this ride is from Lhasa to Dushanbe, in total some 30 days and 7,000 km. The highlight is the "Pamir Highway", a very scenic road snaking its way through the Pamir mountains.
The route does not require Carnet de passage.
Motorcycle, we recommend that you use a medium to large capacity dual purpose/adventure style motorcycle, e.g. BMW 750~1300GS, or similar. What is important is that you have a reliable and robust motorcycle that you are comfortable riding and has been fully serviced prior to the start and has new tires. Bike Tour Asia is offering 2nd hand BMW R1250GS and Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro models you can buy for the tour.
